We’re at a loss for words.
Ok, not really. We’re never at a complete loss of words here at DFB, but we are certainly confused right now. There’s a strange new Genie+ trend that we’ve noticed in Disney World and it has us questioning everything we thought we knew. Here’s what we’ve been seeing! Check it out, and let us know if we’re the only ones who are baffled right now!
Today, January 3rd, Magic Kingdom is once again SOLD OUT of park passes. This would tell us that it is going to be a very busy day in the parks, right?
Well, when we got to the park, there were certainly lots of people! It was very crowded and we saw some very long lines over in Tomorrowland.
Space Mountain’s line was nowhere near the actual entrance of the ride, that’s how long it was!
When we say it’s been busy the last few days in Disney World, we genuinely mean it. Since Christmas, we haven’t seen the crowds slow down at all. But what has us baffled are the Genie+ prices we’ve been seeing for the past three days.
Instead of staying high at the record-breaking $39 for the Multiple Parks and Magic Kingdom options (and high prices for all the other parks), we’ve been seeing Genie+ DROPPING in price! Tell us we’re not the only ones surprised by this.
On January 3rd, the Genie+ options are as follows:
- Multiple Parks — $27
- Magic Kingdom — $27
- EPCOT — $19
- Hollywood Studios — $24
- Animal Kingdom — $17
These prices are WAY down from New Year’s Eve and are down just from yesterday! Yesterday, Genie+ was at $29 for Multiple Parks and Magic Kingdom — $2 more than what we’re seeing today, an equally busy day in the parks.
Normally, we see Genie+ prices match the crowds. So when the crowds are high, Genie+ is generally high. The continual dropping in prices as the crowds are still high is very odd to us, but we’re certainly not mad about it!
As a reminder, Genie+ is the handy virtual assistant on the Disney World app. You can purchase Genie+ at midnight on the day of your trip and then use it to purchase Lightning Lanes (Disney’s line pass system) at 7AM that same day. There are also Individual Lightning Lanes that you can purchase separately on the day of your trip (you don’t need to purchase Genie+ to buy these). These can be really convenient tools, especially on busy days in the parks!
We’ll be on the lookout for more odd Genie+ trends, but in the meantime, keep following DFB for more Disney news!
