Looking for the PERFECT place to ring in the New Year? We may have the ideal suggestion!
New Year’s Eve universally prompts a search for fantastic food and lively entertainment. When thinking about the best places to celebrate the New Year, Times Square in New York City immediately comes to mind — but would you be surprised to learn it isn’t the best location for New Year’s festivities? Per a study, that distinction actually belongs to Orlando!
According to WalletHub, Orlando ranks first overall among all American cities when it comes to celebrating New Year’s Eve! What factors dictated this ranking, and is the ranking justified? Let’s take a look!
Orlando finished ahead of San Diego, New York, Las Vegas, and Atlanta, respectively. So what separated Orlando from its competition? According to the study, price had a lot to do with it. Many famous locales across the United States hike up their prices when larger crowds are expected. Per WalletHub, “That’s especially true for hotels, which can experience price increases of several hundred percent,” and so the study took into account affordability while delivering top-tier experiences. In fact, the study compared the 100 biggest American cities based on 26 different indicators such as the legality of fireworks, nightlife options, weather, and food affordability.
Orlando is one of the most frequently visited cities for New Year’s Eve and offers PLENTY. From Disney World and other theme parks to a bustling nightlife, Orlando has something for everyone. In fact, WalletHub’s data indicates that Orlando “ranks first when it comes to nightlife options and affordable restaurants rated 4.5+ stars,” so you’ll be hard-pressed to find better options elsewhere.
Orlando also has some of the longest fireworks displays in the U.S., in addition to legal consumer fireworks so you’re guaranteed to be in for a good show. Mix the entertainment options with the number of gourmet specialty food stores found everywhere and you can see why Orlando ranks first in the country!
We can totally see why Orlando topped the list of best cities to celebrate New Year’s Eve! We’ll be celebrating the holiday in Orlando as well so stay tuned right here at DFB for all kinds of coverage!
