When it comes to fast food dining spots in Disney World, you probably know we have our faves.
We will hit up places like Casey’s Corner, Satu’li Canteen, and Woody’s Lunch Box on a regular basis. But when we’re in Disney Springs, there’s one spot we tend to eat at the most: Chicken Guy! Why? Well, we keep getting proof that this is some of the BEST chicken in the area. Now we’re back to try THREE new sandwiches PLUS a shake, so let’s see if this fast food spot still delivers.
First, we had to get over our disappointment at the major sauce change at Chicken Guy!, but we’re glad we made the trek back over there to try out these three new sandwiches. This place needs some redeeming in our eyes after the sauce situation. So, let’s get to it. We ordered the Hot Honey Big Bite Sandwich, made with two Hot Tenders, Nashville Hot Honey, American Slaw, and Pickles, for $9.49. Note you can get these crispy fried or grilled, but yeah, we got them FRIED. Go big or go home, right?
Excuse us because we’re gonna need a minute.🤤 Right off the bat, this was our new favorite sandwich here. It’s sweet and spicy, which is pretty much the perfect combo for us. The crispy chicken is tender on the inside, and you get some nice crunch and brightness from the slaw and pickles. But warning: this is SWEET and SPICY, though for us, it was perfect. Those flavors might be too much for some people, though.
Next up, we dove into the Buffalo Ranch Big Bite Sandwich for $8.99. Btw, these really are BIG BITES. This is made with two Chicken Tenders, Shredded Lettuce, Buffalo, and Buffalo Ranch. Again, you’ve got some nice and crispy chicken to start with, plus you get additional crunch from the fresh lettuce.
We do have one complaint, though — it would make SO much more sense to toss the chicken in the sauce. The way ours was prepared, the sauce was added separately, and it just OOZES out the side and you miss out on that flavor. It is spicy, but not SUPER spicy, plus the buttermilk ranch, which is nice and light, mellows out that heat.
Okay, hold up because we’re STILL not done. We HAD to get the Buffalo Mac ‘n’ Cheese Big Bite Sandwich for $9.99. This one has two Chicken Tenders, Mac ‘n’ Cheese, Smoked Bacon, Buffalo, SMC, and Garlic Parmesan. We prefer this over the regular Buffalo Ranch — the Mac ‘n’ Cheese is creamy and herby but wasn’t so mushy that it fell out of the sandwich. The bacon — well, bacon is always a nice salty addition to mac ‘n’ cheese, in our opinion.
The SMC (Super Melty Cheese) is the same cheese you get on the Loaded Fries here, so yes, it just means even MORE cheesiness, and well, it’s no secret how much we love cheese. It did make things a little messy, though, and you might end up wearing some of that cheese.
So you might think we’d stop at three sandwiches, but you would be wrong because we thought we’d also grab the Holiday Cookie Shake for $6.99. It’s made with Hand-spun Vanilla Soft Serve, Blended with Sugar Cookies and Caramel Drizzle, topped with Marshmallow Whipped Cream, Mini Chocolate Candy Pieces, Holiday Sprinkles, AND a Cookie. WHEW!
Okay, so there is a LOT going on here, but we were HERE for it. Although it’s mostly a vanilla milkshake, it actually did taste a lot like a sugar cookie. The marshmallow whipped cream was also thick and a lot of fun. Note that you only get half a cookie (which is MORE than enough with everything else happening here), but the cookie is soft and delicious, although it gets a little mushy the longer it sits in the milkshake. Needless to say, if you’re looking for a light dessert, this is NOT it.
So, does Chicken Guy! still live up to our expectations? Well, despite the loss of about half of those amazing sauces, we’d still return here again and again for the chicken and occasional milkshake. What can we say? Fried chicken stays winning.
