So we GET it — Disneyland food is definitely something to get excited about.
Who doesn’t love those corn dogs (even the ones with pickles in them), ALL those churro flavors, and Mickey beignets? CLASSICS. But there’s one Disneyland treat that may be more popular than all of those combined — we’re talking LONG lines to pick these things up EVERY year. Yep, the Disneyland Candy Canes are back!
Okay, so you may be wondering “What’s so special about a candy cane? I can pick up a package of candy canes at Dollar Tree for $1.25?” Well, here’s the thing. First, these candy canes are HUGE — like bigger than your head. But also, these candy canes are made BY HAND at Candy Palace in Disneyland and Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure.
Finally, these special treats are only available once a year and there’s a STRICT schedule on when and how you can get one. (It’s all about supply and demand, y’all!) You’ll also need to join a mobile waitlist, which doesn’t even guarantee that you’ll get one. Yep, they’re that popular. By the way, here’s this year’s schedule:
- Candy Palace: December 3rd, 5th, 10th, 12th, 17th, 19th, and 24th
- Trolley Treats: December 4th, 6th, 11th, 13th, 18th, 20th, and 25th
We headed over today to Candy Palace to see if the odds were in our favor of getting a Candy Cane this year. When we arrived, there was already a line — but this line was just for signing up for the Mobile Waitlist.
We peeked in the window to see Cast Members preparing the candy canes for the day.
For the record, this line stretched from Candy Palace to Jolly Holiday Bakery. This is SERIOUS BUSINESS!
We finally got to sign up for the waitlist — then we got this text message. So now we…well…wait. It works like this: you get a text when it’s time for you to pick up a candy cane. As you can see, even if you get on the waitlist, you are not guaranteed to get one.
About an hour later, we finally got a message to return to Candy Palace to purchase our treat! YAY! We made it! You have 30 minutes to return. Note that you can only buy one candy cane at a time.
So we returned to Candy Palace and finally picked up our candy cane for $19.99. SUCCESS! Like we said, these babies are HUGE.
We will warn you that if you’re not careful, you can drop and break them (because yep, we did that last year), so handle them with care! We were much more careful this year!
