The newest Disney World attraction is now officially OPEN!

She’s so beautiful!
Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana has actually been open for a while now, but just as part of the soft opening in EPCOT. Now, as of October 16th, this attraction is officially open and ready to welcome guests. The walk-through attraction is likely going to be very popular for a while as everyone wants to check it out, so Disney has a solution to help manage the demand.
Disney is currently utilizing a virtual queue for Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. They first started using the virtual queue for this attraction during Annual Passholder and DVC Member previews, and it stuck around during the soft opening.

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana
If you want to visit Journey of Water, you’ll need to join the virtual queue through the My Disney Experience app. Just go to the homepage of the app, find the section about virtual queues, and select “Join Virtual Queue.”

Select EPCOT at the top of the page, and then join the queue for the Journey of Water attraction.

The virtual queue opens at 8:45AM (15 minutes before EPCOT opens), but unlike other virtual queues you have to be scanned into the park. You are able to enter the park before 9AM, so if you want to get a lower boarding group number, ensure that you’re at the park nice and early! You can scan into the turnstiles before the park’s official opening time, and you’ll just be stopped toward the front of the park until it opens.
And this virtual queue can fill up, so make sure to join as soon as possible to ensure you’re able to visit the new attraction.
When we joined we ended up in Group 54.
My Disney Experience was estimating the wait time for your boarding group to be called to be about 190 minutes.
We also noted that within 45 minutes of the park opening, 18 boarding groups had been called, that’s only 2 and a half minutes between boarding groups!
Once you’re in the queue, you’ll receive a notification when your group is called. You’ll have one hour to return to Journey of Water, at which point you’ll get to go inside!

The return line for the virtual queue was pretty long today — it stretched back to Spaceship Earth! Luckily, it went quickly. When we were called back, we joined the line and only waited for about 20 minutes before we got inside the attraction.
Inside this attraction, you can explore the lush trails, play with water in several different interactive stations, and learn about the water cycle from the various informational signs around.

So pretty
Some of our favorite interactive stations include the waterfall that parts as you walk through it, the “harps”…

…and of course the huge wave that you can only create by working together with other visitors!
