Disney World is known for putting on a few spectacular after-hours events for traditional guests and even exclusive ones for Disney Vacation Club members. Today — July 19th — those that didn’t have resort reservations to secure a spot during the early registration window for the Moonlight Magic event coming soon to Disney’s Animal Kingdom will finally have their chance at securing a reservation! Here’s what you need to know.
If you are one of the Disney Vacation Club members that have been looking forward to the general registration for the upcoming Moonlight Magic after-hours event at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the day is finally here!
Moonlight Magic is an exclusive after-hours party known for its low crowd levels, entertainment, and meet-and-greets with rare Disney characters. These events are only available to Disney Vacation Club members (and their guests).
Moonlight Magic 2022
Today, general registration opens for the Moonlight Magic event coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom on August 2nd.
We visited the Disney Vacation Club website and were directed to a virtual queue line for registration, which contained more details. Note that the member who registers must attend, the virtual queue page refreshes once registration opens and you’ll be officially put in the queue in random order, and you should NOT refresh the page so you don’t lose your place in line!

For the general registration that opens today, a Disney Vacation Club member is allowed to register up to 4 guests along with themselves (so a total of 5) for the event.

It’s important to remember to have your DVC member ID handy for the registration as you’ll be asked for that to verify your membership to complete the registration.

While this is the event that’s up for registration today, more Moonlight Magic events are coming in the future. The September 13th Moonlight Magic event scheduled to take place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will open for general registration on August 31st, so mark down those calendars.
And the Moonlight Magic event scheduled to take place at Typhoon Lagoon Water Park on August 23rd will open for general registration on August 9th.

Here are some other things to know about Moonlight Magic Events in general:
- They generally include complimentary special treats
- You can only register for one event date for each participating park per membership
- “Complimentary admission to the after-hours event is valid for the duration of the event”
- “Disney Genie+ service and Lightning Lane are not available for use during Moonlight Magic Events.”
- “Registration is required and limited.”
UPDATE: It appears that registration for Moonlight Magic has paused its line as of 11:18AM.

Although the line is paused, Disney doesn’t say the registrations for the event have reached capacity yet. We also have yet to hear from Disney when the queue registrations will resume so if you’re already waiting in line, it’s probably best to keep your queue number until Disney makes a further announcement.

It appears that Disney is trying to reopen the registrations for the remaining space in the Moonlight Magic reservations.
UPDATE: Registration has now sold out for the August 2nd event date at Animal Kingdom.
