Raise your hand if you think the best part of any fast food meal is the french fries. 🙋 But here’s the REAL question: Which fast food chain has the BEST fries??

We know there’s not truly one easy answer to that question. It’s a hotly debated topic, and everyone has strong opinions about where you can find the best french fries. We recently found a survey that asked over 1,300 people which fast food burger chain had the best fries in the biz, and you might be SHOCKED by which restaurant made it into the third spot.

According to a survey reported by YouGov, the fast food burger chain with the best french fries is (drum roll please 🥁) McDonald’s!

We have to say, that’s a pretty fair choice. Those thin, crispy bites of goodness are some of our favorites, too, especially when you eat them in the car on the way home (somehow they’re SO much better in the car). About 29% of the 1,337 people surveyed chose the Golden Arches as the king of the fries.

The second-place choice was Five Guys, taking about 11% of the votes. If you’re counting the Cajun-style fries, we think they might even have deserved more votes!

Now we come to the third-place choice. 9% of respondents chose In-N-Out as having the best french fries. 😮 Why is this so shocking, you may ask? Just try googling “Are In-N-Out’s fries good?”. You’ll see lots of articles pop up about how terrible the fries are, with some offering explanations about why so many people dislike the fries.

In fact, LA Times food columnist Lucas Kwan Peterson once wrote, “In-N-Out is always crazy busy so the fries are fresh, at the very least. But they’re also bland, crumbly little matchsticks that aren’t improved by any amount of ketchup, salt, cheese, or salad dressing you want to add to them.”

Harsh words, but Peterson doesn’t seem to be alone in his opinion. Still, enough people like the fries for the chain to have made it into 3rd place in this ranking!

A few important chains seem to be missing from this survey: where’s Steak ‘n’ Shake? Smashburger? We also want to see where Popeyes and Chick-Fil-A fries would rank, but since the survey was specifically for fast food burger chains, we can’t be upset that they’re missing.

Here’s a fun fact that you might not know: McDonald’s used to sell their food INSIDE the Disney World theme parks! You could get Happy Meals at Restaurantosaurus and purchase McD’s french fries in Magic Kingdom. Now, however, the only McDonald’s location in Disney World is located outside of the parks (though still on Disney World property, so it’s not too far away if you’re craving some of those delicious fries!).

Even though you can’t find the official McDonald’s fries inside the parks, we think that the classic counter service restaurant fries are pretty darn close. You can get thin, crispy fries from locations like Casey’s Corner, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café, Backlot Express, and Connections Eatery.

However, you can also get even BETTER fries in Disney World. Check out the incredible Loaded Burnt Ends Fries at Regal Eagle in EPCOT…
