We have exciting food news from Disney World!
A NEW table-service restaurant is coming to the Japan Pavilion in EPCOT — and we’ve got a first look at the food available there!
Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya will be opening this summer! Disney has shared some of the menu items, and in addition to a full menu filled with Japanese cuisine like sushi and teppan items, there will be an open sushi bar and grill.
Disney said Shiki-Sai will be on the second floor of the Japan Pavilion, and offer great views of EPCOT’s fireworks. While Disney has not said that it is a replacement for the Tokyo Dining restaurant on the second floor of the Japan Pavilion, that restaurant is currently closed for refurbishment.
Shiki-Sai promises to be a unique dining experience for Disney World! Disney says the restaurant will bring the “essence of Japan’s seasonal festivals,” and each month there will be a new celebration. Let’s take a look at some of the menu items!
Some highlights from the sushi bar include the Kobore Sushi, Tokyo Negi Roll, Funamori, and The Monster Roll.
The Funamori features sashimi and sushi arranged on a boat-shaped platter.
The menu will also include classic dishes from the Japanese Izakaya tradition, a type of casual pub-style restaurant. These will include small plates such as Karaage Chicken, Salmon Misoyaki, and Tomato Salad with Avocado. And then there is the grill, which will also serve traditional Japanese cuisine like Okonomiyaki — a Japanese savory pancake filled with shredded cabbage and bacon, and topped with okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, aonori, bonito flakes, and pickled ginger.
So many choices! We can’t wait to see what this NEW Disney World restaurant is like. We’re so intrigued by the idea of the experience here changing up every month! Keep following DFB for the latest Disney food news!
