If you’re a die-hard McDonald’s burger fan, be prepared to encounter some CHANGES to their iconic dishes soon.
McDonald’s has been making all kinds of adjustments lately — from debuting new Happy Meal toys to announcing a new snack and other potential changes made to address concerns about plastic use. And now it looks like the McDonald’s burger will be changing too!
According to CNN, McDonald’s will be changing its signature burgers soon. These changes come as McDonald’s aims to upgrade some of its “core items to boost sales.”
What changes will you see? Well, according to CNN the burger buns will be softer, the cheese will be “gooier,” onions will be added to the burger patties while on the grill (giving them a caramelized, juicier flavor according to USA Today), and there will be MORE Big Mac sauce added to Big Mac sandwiches.
Chad Schafer, the senior director of culinary innovation at McDonald’s USA, shared “We found that small changes, like tweaking our process to get hotter, meltier cheese and adjusting our grill settings for a better sear, added up to a big difference in making our burgers more flavorful than ever.”
The burgers that will be impacted include the Big Mac, McDouble burger, classic cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, and hamburger.
The changes have actually hit some international markets and select US cities already (like Los Angeles and Las Vegas). The updated burgers will become available nationally by early 2024.
So if you want to experience McDonald’s burgers as they are right now, grab one soon and then prepare to see some changes by the time early 2024 arrives.
In addition to these changes, USA Today reports that the Hamburgler character is BACK. He’s featured in a McDonald’s advertisement posted a few weeks ago.
