The Unique Lunch You Were NOT Expecting to Find in Disney World

February is a GREAT time to be in Disney World, as there are tons of new treats and snacks at the parks for Black History Month!

The Celebrate Soulfully event is back this year, and we’re trying all kinds of tasty eats around the parks and hotels. We’ve already had a mind-blowing cake, some fantastic comfort food, and a beautifully CHEESY lunch. Come with us to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to try another new dish that promises tons of flavor!

We’re heading to the ABC Commissary, which is the home of the tasty Buffalo Grilled Cheese Sandwich. But today, we’re looking for a new menu item: Gumbo!

ABC Commissary

This new dish is made with chicken, Andouille sausage, okra, and seasonings simmered in chicken stock served over rice. You can get it right now for $10.99.

This one is super flavorful! It also has a good bit of a spicy kick to it, so be mindful of that before ordering! The chicken was cooked to perfection and was extremely tender, making it very easy to eat. It wasn’t too dry or chewy, which can sometimes happen with chicken at Disney!

The balance of rice and soup was perfect, as well as the amount of vegetables. There were just enough vegetables that it wouldn’t be considered overpowering to those who don’t like them. We really enjoyed the okra and peppers in this one specifically!

We would definitely recommend this dish to anyone looking for a hearty, flavorful lunch in the parks, especially if you’re craving something a bit more complex than pizza or burgers. On the other hand, you might wanna skip this one if you’re not a fan of spice or salt!
