Have you been to EPCOT lately? The park has been going through a period of transformation for a few years now, and it’s far from over!
Construction means new things to see and do which may sound like a good thing, but it can make spending time in the park trickier! While we don’t have an exact opening date yet, later this year, a new area in EPCOT will be opening and make the park super busy.
Where there are Disney openings, there are Disney crowds! Both the opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the two newest attractions in EPCOT, brought in tons of guests. Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana is welcoming guests for the first time later this year! This immersive walk-through attraction is another facet of the historic transformation EPCOT is currently undergoing.
Disney describes this new area as a “lush exploration trail” that allows explorers to “play with magical, living water.” Within this trail you can learn about the natural water cycle while taking in a variety of plant and water installations. The Journey of Water also features tons of references to Moana, the biggest being a huge 15-foot-tall Te Fiti sculpture!
Going by past attraction openings in EPCOT, you will most likely have to deal with longer than usual wait times, as plenty of guests will be flocking to EPCOT to check out this area. Journey of Water is part of a momentous time in EPCOT’s history — in 2021 we began using the new neighborhood names in the park as it continues to move forward with this multi-year transformation.
However, because this is an open-air walking trail it has a higher capacity than your typical ride, so it might not be as intense as other opening days we’ve seen in the past (like when the Cosmic Rewind Virtual Queue filled up in 30 seconds!). When it’s time for you to head to EPCOT, just remember to check the wait times on your app, and pack your patience!
