Florida might be the Sunshine State, but believe it or not, it can sometimes get a bit cold.
We’ve seen our share of weather in Disney World, including storms, hurricanes, and more, and we’re about to see some seriously cold and windy weather over the next few days.
According to WESH meteorologist Eric Burrus, this morning is COLD, with temperatures in the low 40s, and highs only reaching 52 degrees. BRR!
It…is…cold…
It's a First Warning Weather Day due to wind chills this morning, and tonight due to frost and freeze issues;

Here’s the thing, though — it isn’t just low temperatures that will make it feel cold. It’s also windy out there, which means it will feel MUCH colder when you factor in wind chill. Those “feels like” temperatures are SUPER COLD for Florida.
Feels like temps have been in the 30s area wide… with a few 20s in the mix…
It's a 'First Warning Weather Day' because of our COLD wind chills this morning. Heads up friends! Bundle up in layers, that wind has a bite! pic.twitter.com/Vx3rSo2yHX

Also, if you’ve been to Florida when it’s chilly, you’ll know it’s a totally different kind of cold than in many parts of the country. Florida gets that damp cold, so you might feel colder than you would normally feel at home at the same temperatures.

So what can you do to prepare for the cold in Disney World? First and foremost! Check the weather BEFORE your trip. You can usually get a 10-day forecast ahead of time to give you an idea of what temperatures will be like. Don’t assume it’s always going to be warm.
It's a chilly chilly forecast today my friends…
Here's a look at our high temps today, but keep in mind the winds will keep things feeling even chillier;

Once you know what the weather forecast is like, pack accordingly. That means layers since it will warm up a little when the sun comes out. For example, you can start with a long-sleeve shirt under your Mickey t-shirt, layered with both a hoodie and a jacket — you can take off layers as you warm up. You’ll also want to skip the shorts and skirts for pants.
Also, consider grabbing a beanie or ear muffs to keep your head warm — and don’t forget gloves! Trust us — you’ll be a lot more comfortable!
If you do happen to forget to pack warmer items, you’ll find plenty of jackets and sweatshirts in the parks — but note that they can be pricey. You’re better off just packing everything you need at home!
You need to understand that yes, it can get cold in Florida, and you should dress accordingly. Sure, you might see guests in the parks trying to tough it out in cargo shorts and t-shirts, but they might be miserable while you’re toasty and warm in your layers.
