We’ve got BIG EPCOT news!
Due in part to the COVID-19 global pandemic, many Disney projects have been put on hold, and many of them we’re not sure will ever happen. One of these projects is the DuckTales Scavenger Hunt in World Showcase in EPCOT, which was originally supposed to premiere in 2019. After not hearing anything for years, we heard rumors months ago it was set to happen, and now we’ve got an opening date!
The DuckTales Scavenger Hunt is similar in ways to the Kim Possible and Agent P’s Scavenger Hunts seen in years past. According to the 2019 description of the hunt, it’ll be a “trip around World Showcase discovering exotic destinations, exciting mysteries, and maybe even a few thieves, villains and supernatural guardians of ancient artifacts.”
We previously saw this scavenger hunt appear on the Play Disney Parks app, and now we have an opening date. This adventure will be opening on Friday, December 16th! You’ll have to use that Play Disney Parks app to complete the hunt — so make sure those phones are charged.
Guests will “Join Scrooge McDuck, his nephews & friends as they travel around World Showcase on a quacky quest to find the 7 Plunders of the World – and return them to their rightful owners.” The treasures are hidden in World Showcase country pavilions, and each country has “three assignments and one finale.” The country pavilions with hidden treasures are Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Japan, France, and the United Kingdom. Every mission “takes approximately 25-30 minutes to complete.”
After completing a mission, you get an achievement in the Disney Play App. Once you complete all the missions, you’ll unlock a final mission. We’ll check out the new hunt when it opens on December 16th, so stay tuned to DFB for more details.
There’s still lots to come in EPCOT too — Moana: Journey of Water is under construction right now, and the park as a whole is going under a major transformation. Be sure to keep an eye on DFB for all the latest Disney construction and event updates!
