FULL REVIEW: Refreshment Port at the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays

Refreshment Port

There is a lot to explore at this event this year, but we’re focusing on the FOOD right now! With so many booths to try, it may feel a little overwhelming, but that’s why we’re here. We headed over to Refreshment Port to try three returning dishes to see how they compare to last year.

Food

First up, we tried the Turkey Poutine which is a plate of French fries with turkey gravy, cranberry relish, and crispy onions for $9. Imagine all the BEST flavors from Thanksgiving, but piled high onto crispy french fries — this is basically that. It’s not the prettiest looking dish, but how does it taste?

The saltiness of the french fries helps to balance out the sweetness from the cranberry relish, and the flavors complement each other really well. The gravy helps add a savory flavor and keeps the turkey from being too dry. Sometimes french fries can get soggy with poutine, but that wasn’t the case here. This would be a great sharable snack or something to soak up some of that alcohol from drinking around the world!

Next up is the Coquito Soft-serve Waffle Cone for $6. We loved this treat last year, and this year is no different! It’s super creamy and delicious, and has those cinnamon spices you normally find in coquito.

Fair warning, though — it melted QUICKLY so you’ll have to race the clock to be able to finish this one before you have a mess on your hands. If you’re looking for something other than a regular vanilla soft-serve cone, this might be just the thing.

Coquito soft serve waffle cone

Lastly, we’ve got the Coquito Soft-serve topped with Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum for $12.50. This is the same as the coquito soft serve, but with a generous pouring of spiced rum on top! We highly recommend mixing this together before taking a bite or sip so you don’t get hit with a shot of rum like we did (unless that’s your thing, in which case — go for it!) but this was delicious.

It had all the creaminess and spiced flavors of the soft serve, but with an extra kick from the spiced rum. It reminded us of a boozy snickerdoodle milkshake!

Overall

Refreshment Port does it again — the turkey poutine is excellent and hearty so you can get something substantial here (it’s even enough to split) and the coquito soft serve is a great little snack that’s refreshing and not too sweet. Plus, for a dessert that packs a punch you can’t go wrong with the spiced rum version!
