You’ll Underestimate Disney World’s New Snack…But You Shouldn’t

If you’re heading to Disney World in the next few weeks, you’re going to be OVERWHELMED with snack options!

Between the 50th Anniversary exclusives, the snacks for Halloween, and the special food offerings for Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, there are so many new things to try! And now, we’re heading to Animal Kingdom to taste one of those new menu additions.

Over at the Kusafiri Bakery, you can find the Impossible Empanadas from September 15th-October 15th! It’s part of the celebrations for Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month and it’s made with flaky Latin dough filled with plant-based picadillo. You can order it for $9.99.

So here’s the thing — we found it to be VERY delicious. The plant-based “meat” tasted very similar to beef and was well-seasoned with what reminded us of African or Indian spices. This snack was also very hearty and we liked that it stayed warm for a good long time (like while we were taking photos).

LOTS of filling!

The pastry is nice and crispy, too, with LOTS of filling. ALTHOUGH, the edges of the pastry were a little undercooked and doughy, but that could be a first-day problem since it’s a new snack.

The dipping sauce also adds a bit of spice and complements the empanadas very well.
