The D23 Expo is almost here!
In case you’re unfamiliar, the D23 Expo is one of the biggest Disney fan events you can attend, held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California from September 9th to 11th, 2022. From a variety of panels to rare pieces of Disney history to exclusive merchandise and shopping, there’s no shortage of fun to be had. Tickets have already sold out but don’t worry — there will also be ways to check out this event from home!
On a recent episode of the D23 Inside Disney podcast, the hosts spoke with Michael Vargo, Vice President of D23, about the upcoming D23 Expo and what to expect. They discussed how the event tickets sold out in record time, and that fans seem to be really excited for the first D23 Expo in three years.
Vargo shared that they will be “going all out this year with livestream” so that folks at home can also enjoy the event, and that “each day of the expo the fans will be able to connect at home and through social channels.” There will also be a “specially curated program just for livestream audiences at home,” and they hinted at a Facebook Live tour of the archives.
We already knew that livestreaming would be part of the event, but we didn’t know exactly what would be livestreamed yet — until now! One of the biggest pieces of D23 news Vargo was able to share is that the expo opening and the Disney Legends Ceremony will be livestreamed on the morning of Friday, September 9th. He noted that the opening ceremony will be “extra special” because it will be a preview of the 100th anniversary celebration of The Walt Disney Company in 2023.
