2023 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend Race Themes Announced

We may be getting ready to celebrate Halloween in Disney World, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t already looking forward to everything that 2023 has in store!

Some of our favorite annual events we look forward to are all the different runDisney races and events that take place throughout the year. We’ve already learned the themes of each race for the 2023 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, but now Disney has officially announced what we can expect from the 2023 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend races, too!

On your marks, get set, go! runDisney races offer the chance for participants to exercise their legs all while running through Disney World parks and beyond. There are several different races throughout the year, each with a different theme. Runners often go all-out donning costumes and having fun all while getting some cardio in.

2022 Springtime Surprise Weekend

The 2023 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend runs from April 13th to 16th, 2023, and promises a whole lineup of different races and events for well-seasoned runners and novices alike. And now, Disney has announced that the 2023 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend will be… PIXAR-THEMED!

Start your engines, because the 2023 Springtime Surprise 5k will be Cars-themed! You can “speed through the lanes of this 3.1-mile course with Lightning McQueen, Mater, and all their friends.”

Looking for a bit more of a challenge? You can actually run from (or alongside!) monsters like Mike and Sulley in the Monsters Inc. 10K race! This 6.2-mile course will let you “take a step in the FRIGHT direction” with all their pals from Monstropolis.

Don’t forget to run at the speed of Light(year) in the Toy Story 10-miler! Buzz, Woody, Bo Peep, and more will be cheering runners on throughout this lengthy course.

If you’re really looking for a challenge during the 2023 Springtime Surprise Weekend, you can complete all three weekend events (the 5K, 10K, AND 10-miler) as part of the Springtime Surprise Challenge! Runners who take on and complete this challenge will receive a Nemo-themed medal!

You can also participate in Springtime Surprise Yoga, and if you can’t make it to Disney World for this race weekend, there are also virtual races you can participate in as well. Registration for the 2023 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend begins on August 23rd, 2022 for in-person events and August 26th, 2022 for virtual events.
