We love trying all sorts of new snacks and treats in Disney World, even if they’ll only be available for a limited time. We recently tried the May Drink of the Month at the Coca-Cola Rooftop Bar and a special Mother’s Day dessert at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort that is ONLY available for a few days.
Now, we’re heading over to Disney Springs to try a treat that has made its way to Vivoli il Gelato in celebration of Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
Introducing the Ube Tiramisu Pop from Vivoli il Gelato. It is made of ube cream with graham cracker crumbs soaked with coconut. (Spoiler alert: it’s delicious).
In case you didn’t know, ube is a purple yam that is often used as a dessert ingredient in the Philippines. Oftentimes, it is boiled and mashed, and it has a FABULOUS purple color!
It’s often described as creamy and mellow, and some even think it has an almost vanilla-like flavor! This dessert is definitely strong with ube flavor, so if you’re not a fan, you might not enjoy it.
We thought this treat had a great texture and wasn’t too sweet (which is hard to find sometimes when it comes to Disney desserts!). Overall, it was very light and cold (which we appreciated in the Florida heat), but we recommend eating it fast because the texture might get a little weird for some once it melts. Another thing we really like is that you get to relive your childhood with the cool push pop design!
If you’re looking for a heartier dessert, we would probably recommend skipping this one since it’s on the lighter side. At $7.46, we thought this treat was a pretty good value and we really enjoyed it for its light and refreshing flavors! If you want to try it, be sure to stop by Vivoli il Gelato while it’s available.
We’re always on the hunt for new food to review, so make sure to stay tuned to DFB for more!
