We pretty much consider ourselves Disney World snack experts…and we’ve eaten a LOT of food to get that title.
We’ve tried our fair share of weird treats, but we’ve also tested every single one of the classic Disney World snacks (multiple times, I might add!). Every once in a while, Disney levels up those basic snacks by switching up the toppings or adding new ingredients, and that was exactly the case with two snacks we had recently!
At both Zuri’s Sweet Shop in Animal Kingdom and Big Top Treats at Magic Kingdom, we spotted not one, but TWO new Rice Krispy treats that we knew we just had to try. You can get either the Gourmet Chocolate Strawberry Krispy or the Gourmet S’more Krispy for $5.49 each. (Or you can order them both, we’re definitely not judging!)
First up, let’s talk about the S’more Krispy! This one is a Rice Krispy treat with chocolate drizzle, mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and graham cracker cereal, all wrapped up in one deliciously sticky snack. Ain’t she a beaut?
Unfortunately, this gorgeous treat doesn’t really deliver like we had hoped. It doesn’t have a lot of flavor unless you’re able to get a bite with the marshmallows AND the chocolate in it. The Krispy itself was pretty stale (as was the cereal) and didn’t have the gooiness that these treats are typically known for having. It just turned out to be kinda soggy. *sad face*
Here’s the thing, though — we tried it a SECOND TIME a few days later and had a much better experience. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch pieces were CLOSE to being stale, but they had a stronger cinnamon flavor that we enjoyed. And the Rice Krispy part was actually really good! So it’s possible that we just got a bad batch that first time around.
The Chocolate Strawberry Krispy performed a little bit better for our taste buds! It’s a strawberry Rice Krispy topped with freeze-dried strawberries and chocolate drizzle. And it’s just as photogenic as its counterpart!
The strawberry flavor was strong throughout, but definitely more tart than it was sweet. The sweet chocolate balanced with the tart strawberry well, but unfortunately, the texture was a little dry and chewy (not in a good way). It almost felt as though it wasn’t made fresh. All in all, it wasn’t bad, but it definitely wouldn’t be our first choice in a Disney World bakery case.
