REVIEW: Is Disneyland's NEW Hard-to-Get Treat Actually Worth the Hype?

We’re celebrating Lunar New Year over in Disneyland!

There are tons of exclusive foods for the celebration over in Disney California Adventure, and we’ve been trying them all! From the Coffee Kahlua Bundt Cake, to the White Hot Chocolate, to the Mango Pineapple Pie, we’ve been giving you the inside scoop on all the eats at this Disneyland festival! We tried another snack today, which was previously sold out, so let’s see if it lives up to the hype!

Today, we tried the Brown Sugar Steamed Bun from the seasonal food cart in Redwood Creek Challenge Trail for Lunar New Year! This is from the Raya and the Last Dragon-themed festival cart, so we were excited to check it out.

A look at the menu

This steamed bun had brown sugar in it, and came with blue cream cheese icing! On previous visits to the booth, (when we tried the White Hot Chocolate on the menu) the steamed bun was sold out, so we were super excited to see what all of the Brown Sugar Steamed Bun commotion was all about!

The icing was definitely the star of the show for us! The bun itself wasn’t too sweet, and the brown sugar taste wasn’t very strong, so the cream cheese frosting was a welcomed bit of sweetness!

The cream cheese icing also took away from the sticky texture that the bun had, which was not our favorite. We wished the brown sugar taste had been a little stronger, but if you love cream cheese and are okay with sticky textures, then give this snack a go! You can grab it for $6.75.
