To ensure we are equipping our readers with all the information they need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Disney parks around the globe have been affected by multiple health and safety measures at the local and national level, from state-wide mask mandates to parks re-closing due to nationwide lockdowns.
Over in Disneyland Paris, a new government initiative will change the way guests have access to the parks.
Disneyland Paris recently updated their website to share that the French Government has announced a “Vaccine Pass” that will become a required part of the guest experience. According to Disney, “The French Government has announced the upcoming launch of a Vaccine Pass for all people aged 16 years old and above to access leisure activities from January 24, subject to official publication of the law and its implementation decree(s). Disneyland Paris will follow government requirements accordingly. For people aged 12 to 15 included, health pass control is maintained to access leisure activities.”
UPDATE: An update has been posted on the Disneyland Paris website. Scroll down to see the latest info.
According to The Guardian, France’s new Vaccine Pass “will require people to have a certificate of vaccination to enter public places such as restaurants, cafes, cinemas and long-distance trains.”
This will take affect as of January 24th. Currently, a Health Pass is required for any guests ages 12 years and 2 months and above. A Health Pass verifies that the guest is either fully vaccinated, OR that the guest has received a negative PCR or Antigen test within a certain time period, OR that if the guest has had COVID and tests positive on a PCR or Antigen test, that they can meet certain requirements.
This Vaccine Pass seems to be the next phase of France’s Health Pass. It essentially seems to drop the two criteria for negative testing or positive testing over a certain number of days, and make proof of vaccination the only way guests can access these public places.
UPDATE: The Disneyland Paris website has since been updated. It now notes that starting January 24th, “guests aged 16 and above will need to present a Vaccination Pass to enter Disneyland Paris.” For “guests aged between 12 and 15, a Health Pass will remain required to enter Disneyland Paris.”
In addition, a number of shows and other services will return on February 16th, including the Disney Illuminations nighttime show.
We’ve seen other requirements change over the past few months regarding COVID-19 and vaccine rules. With the CDC approving the COVID-19 vaccine to those ages 5 and above, Disney Cruise Line updated their policy to state that all guests who are vaccine eligible based on age must be fully vaccinated in order to sail.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on Disneyland Paris in the coming days as we learn more about France’s new Vaccine Pass. Atay tuned for the latest news and updates from Disney parks around the globe.
