The Disney Wish is the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet, and is scheduled to set sail on June 9th, 2022 for the first time.
As the maiden voyage approaches, Disney is working hard to get the Disney Wish ready for its first passengers. Captain Minnie will be a big part of this new ship, and she just got a major starring role on the front of the ship!
The Disney Wish will initially host 3- and 4-night cruises out of Port Canaveral, FL, with 1,250 staterooms and some incredible new amenities, like the first ever attraction at sea, three new restaurants, a Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge, and some brand new kids club themes, among many other exciting offerings. Today Walt Disney Imagineering posted about a special design coming to life on the bow (front) of the ship, and it stars none other than Captain Minnie herself.
If you didn’t know, the Disney Wish’s captain will be Minnie Mouse herself! According to Disney, Captain Minnie is taking the helm to “inspire the next generation of female leaders in the cruise industry.”
The feature that was recently added to the ship is described as a “filigree medallion painting” in classic Mickey Mouse colors, and Disney described the art style of this piece as a “tribute to the golden age of cruising.”
We had previously seen some art showcasing this design and we saw some other construction work done, but it’s amazing to see this piece finally come together.
Captain Minnie will take a big role onboard the Disney Wish, starring in an original musical called “Seas the Adventure,” as well as serving as the head of Minnie’s Captain Academy, a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) activity for kids. She was also featured on the coin used for the keel laying ceremony, and now she’s right on the front of the ship!
