Here at DFB, we keep you up to date with all the latest construction progress, refurbishments, downtime, and more at Disney World’s attractions. And, one ongoing closure that we’ve been keeping track of is over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Construction can pop up anywhere!
Those that enjoy cooling off on a water ride mid-day probably know what we’re talking about — Kali River Rapids! This attraction has been closed since November 1st, but it looks like we could be riding it once again soon!
The reopening date for this attraction has been listed as mid-December since the closure was originally announced. The refurbishment notice still has this as the timeline, and we noticed previously that the ride showed operating hours on Thursday, December 16th from 9AM to 7PM.

For a brief time, the ride did not show any operating hours until January 4th, 2022.

But now the schedule once again has Kali River Rapids reopening on December 16th of this year.

As a reminder, Expedition Everest is set to close for a long refurbishment beginning January 4th, 2022.

So, it seems you won’t have to wait too much longer to ride this attraction. If you’ll be heading to Disney World in late December and you want to get completely soaked on a hot day in Florida, you’ll likely be able to do that on Kali River Rapids then (seriously, you WILL get soaked).

It is important to note that these hours are subject to change based on how the refurbishment is progressing, but we’ll keep monitoring the situation and let you know. And, until then, be sure to stay tuned for more of the latest Disney news and updates!
