As the situation with COVID-19 continues to change and develop, we’ve seen a number of changes made in California, Florida, and beyond.
Recently, the CDC updated its indoor mask policy for those who are fully vaccinated. Even before that change, LA County, California and Universal Studios Hollywood started requiring individuals to wear masks indoors. Now, Disneyland Resort has updated its indoor mask policy. What does the policy require and what does Disneyland look like now with this updated policy in place? We’re sharing all the details here with you.
Just a few days ago, Disneyland announced an updated indoor mask policy which went into effect on July 30th. According to this updated policy, all Cast Members and guests ages 2 and up are required to wear face masks in all indoor locations at Disneyland Resort, regardless of vaccination status. This includes upon entering and throughout many attractions. Masks will also be required on enclosed transportation vehicles (including shuttles and buses).
Previously, fully vaccinated guests were not required to wear masks in most locations, except on certain Disneyland transportation.
This change comes (as we mentioned above) after the CDC updated its indoor mask guidance. The CDC now recommends that fully vaccinated individuals resume wearing masks in indoor public spaces in areas that are within the “high” or “substantial” levels of COVID-19 transmission. According to the CDC data (as of when we checked on July 29th), Orange County, California is in the “substantial” level of transmission. This, of course, is subject to change.
Amid a surge of COVID-19 cases in California, California leaders had also asked all residents (regardless of vaccination status) to wear masks indoors in all public places.
Disneyland isn’t the only place making mask changes. Disney World recently updated its mask rules, as did Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and Universal Studios Hollywood in California.
Today, we got the chance to visit Disneyland and see the updated mask policy in action. Signage around the parks keeps guests updated on the change.

Signage
At the moment, face coverings are optional for all guests (regardless of vaccination status) in outdoor common areas. From what we saw, many guests were not wearing masks outdoors, but again this is optional.

Masks are optional outdoors.
This means masks are once again required inside indoor merchandise stores, indoor experiences, and more. Masks are also now required upon entering and throughout attractions.

And that’s a look at Disneyland’s current mask policy. Keep in mind that the mask policy at Disneyland (and other theme parks and areas) is subject to change again. We’ll be on the lookout for further updates. Stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news!
