REVIEW: This Disney World Cupcake Is Having a Bit of An Identity Crisis

Can you believe that Mother’s Day is almost here?

We’re at Roaring Fork trying another cupcake!

Disney World has already started celebrating Mom with a TON of new snacks, including a cupcake that gave us fashion advice, a cupcake with a shoe on it, and an unfortunate Sweeter than Roses treat! And we’ve been trying them all!

So today, we headed over to Roaring Fork at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge to try out the latest Mother’s Day creation, the Mother’s Day Cupcake. This is a Tres Leches Cupcake with vanilla buttercream and a milk chocolate butterfly.

Adorable

It also has sugar pearls, a fondant rose, as well as sugar leaf decorations (which we don’t recommend eating — ew). We loved the look of the treat, the detailing is stunning.

It’s certainly a pretty snack!

But here’s the thing — when we tasted it, we were surprised. We were expecting something that tasted super sweet, rich, and milky because it’s a Tres Leches cake.

That butterfly, though!

Instead, we got a light and airy cake (almost like an angel food cake). NOTHING like Tres Leches cake at all!

Did this cupcake lie to us?

We LOVED that it was so light because yes, we had this for breakfast. But if you’re expecting something more like a traditional Tres Leches cake here, you might be disappointed. Although we didn’t really get Tres Leches vibes from this treat, we really enjoyed it.

It’s also considered to be a cupcake, but the shape is different from a typical cupcake. We will say though that the cake to icing ratio was great! You know we here at DFB love a lot of icing. 🤤 You can try it for yourself right now for $5.99 — it will be available through May 9th.
