Back in 2019, Disney announced the Disney Genie — this is a NEW digital feature that is set to help you plan the ideal Disney vacation!
Did you COMPLETELY forget about this new app? If you did, we kind-of can’t blame you. Since the original announcement, we’ve seen a preview of the app and taken a look at some patents that could potentially tell us what to expect. Other than that though, we really haven’t heard too much about this feature lately. But, today we FINALLY got to hear a bit more about the Disney Genie!!
In a recent interview, Josh D’Amaro, the current Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, spoke about a number of things related to the Disney company including Avengers Campus and the future of shopping for Disney merch.
But, aside from those things, D’Amaro also spoke a bit about the Disney Genie!! FINALLY! Let’s break down what he shared.
When Will the Disney Genie Be Available?
During today’s interview, D’Amaro noted that the Disney Genie will launch soon in Disney World! We still don’t have an exact date, but we’ll definitely be on the lookout for more details and let you know once an official launch date has been announced.
What Will the Disney Genie Do?
According to D’Amaro, you’ll be able to tell the Disney Genie what you’d like to do and it will present you with a plan for an optimal day! But, don’t worry — the plans on the Genie will be flexible, so you can change it as the day goes on to re-optimize your selections.
The Disney Genie will also provide you with tips and timely tricks. D’Amaro specifically said, “We are ready to meet guests wherever they are and take them places they have never been before.”
He also shared how Disney has a highly talented multi-disciplinary team working on things that will shape the future of guests’ experiences.
From what we’ve heard about Disney Genie in the past, itineraries through the digital feature will be able to focus on everything “from a royal, princess-themed day at Magic Kingdom Park to a trip around the world at EPCOT for foodies and even a perfect day for thrill seekers.” The Genie is also set to include details like estimated wait times and more.
So, overall we’re still waiting to hear more about this new feature, but the fact that D’Amaro even mentioned it today is a good sign, as we hadn’t really heard too much about the Disney Genie recently. We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more details and let you know what we find!
