Could Disney's NEW 'Luca' Books Tell Us ALL About the Plot?

Disney and Pixar’s new movie, Luca, is coming to Disney+ on June 18th!

The film will follow the friendship between two boys who double as sea monsters — and based on the first trailer, we’re pretty excited! Not to mention, it’ll debut on Disney+ without Premier Access, which means it’ll be totally FREE to watch (besides that Disney+ subscription cost, of course). But if you wanna get ready for Luca before the big day, we found some books that may be perfect to read with your kiddos.

We’ve seen Disney Golden Books for the Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, and more, but now Luca gets one, too! The Luca Little Golden Book is all about Luca’s adventures along the Italian Riviera (with plenty of gelato, of course!) as he learns about a world of sea monsters.

Those sea monsters look pretty friendly to us, but we’ll have to see! The book releases on May 4th and is available for pre-order now for $5.99.

For more advanced readers, there’s also a Luca Deluxe Junior Novelization. It covers the same storyline, but it’s 144 pages! The reading level is ideal for little ones ages 8-12.

In addition to the story, you’ll also find a full-color insert with bonus movie content AND a pull-out movie poster inside! It costs $8.99 and is available for pre-order now. It officially releases May 4th!

And guys — apparently CDs aren’t obsolete just yet. You can order a Luca Read-Along Storybook and CD! It features sound effects and original character voices from the film, and it narrates Luca and Alberto’s adventures word-for-word.

Last but not least, there’s a Step Into Reading book perfect for kiddos ages 4-6, titled Friends Are Forever. We’re exploring that friendship theme yet again as we follow Luca’s story. As far as difficulty, this one’s a Step 2 on the Step Into Reading scale!
