Since it opened at the end of 2019, Rise of the Resistance has been a must-do attraction for many Disney World guests.
Rise of the Resistance
Given the immense popularity of the attraction, there is no standby queue available. To ride, guests need to snag a boarding group through the My Disney Experience app. Boarding groups are distributed at two set times during the day — once at 7AM and again at 1PM.
Disney recently changed the process for the morning boarding group distribution. To be eligible for a boarding group, a guest must have a Disney Park Pass reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios that day, but they do NOT need to be inside the park to try for a boarding group at 7AM.

But this morning, we (along with many other guests) received an error message when the 7AM boarding groups opened up that said they were unable to join a boarding group because each member of their party needed to be in the park.

However, after refreshing the page in the app a few times, they were able to continue the process of joining a boarding group.

While this morning’s occurrence appears to be a glitch, keep in mind that guests DO need to be inside the park to try for a boarding group at the 1PM distribution. We’ll keep an eye out for any future updates to the Rise of the Resistance boarding group process, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for all the latest news!
