Today is the Walt Disney Company’s first Earnings Call of 2021.
These Earnings Calls give us a check-in on how the Walt Disney Company is doing through a release of quarterly financial results and comments from leadership at the company. During this call, Disney executives reported on the continued closures of several Disney parks.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek mentioned today the current expectations for Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland — all of which remain closed at this time.
At this time, Disneyland is kept closed by the theme park guidelines in California. However, an assembly has proposed a bill to move up the reopening of major theme parks, including Disneyland.
Chapek noted that both Disneyland and Disneyland Paris are expected to remain closed for all of Quarter 2 of Fiscal 2021. For reference, Q2 has currently been ongoing since January 3rd and will continue through late March or early April.
As for Hong Kong Disneyland, Chapek noted that they hope to be able to open Hong Kong Disneyland before the end of the quarter. As a reminder, Hong Kong announced that several health restrictions will be eased in the next few weeks.
We’ll continue bringing you the news from the Earnings Call and Report. Stay tuned to DFB for all of the new updates!
