REVIEW: A Customizable Gelato Treat is Both Hot AND Cold in Disney Springs!

In the winter, it’s natural to lean towards warm eats and drinks.

That’s why a staple for this time of year is hot chocolate! And, while hot and cold aren’t usually put together for delicious treats, a new dish at Vivoli il Gelato combines these two opposites!

Back in December, we noticed quite a few menu changes for Vivoli il Gelato. We saw a few treats leave us, and TONS of new treats join! One of the new treats is the Hot Chocolate Affogato, and we finally got around to trying it!

Hot Chocolate Affogato

The treat is made with two scoops of your choice of gelato, hot chocolate, and whipped cream. This place has plenty of gelato flavors to choose from so that you can completely customize this dessert, but we chose Black Cherry and Chocolate gelato this time around.

Hot Chocolate Affogato

The hot chocolate gets poured on top by an employee right before it gets handed to you, however it turns cold very fast! After a few minutes, it turned into a ice cream soup-y mess. However, this soup-y mess was still delicious! The Black Cherry Gelato pairs with the hot chocolate SO well. There are chunks of cherry in the gelato, and it was basically like eating a chocolate-covered cherry.

Our mistake was choosing Chocolate Gelato for this treat. It was super rich with both of the chocolates combined, but we would probably not choose that flavor again because of that. If you’re into really rich chocolate treats, then we would recommend getting the chocolate, but for us it was too much.

You’ll have to eat this one fast to have hot chocolate and cold gelato, so be sure to grab a spoon and go to town on this treat right after you buy it! We’d say that if you don’t enjoy overly sweet desserts, you might want to skip this one and go with a lighter option instead.

This treat is $10.50 and is easily shareable! We could hardly finish the entire thing because it was super sweet. Nevertheless, this is a fun and unique treat, and we aren’t sure how much longer it will be here. Head over to Disney Springs soon if this looks like something you want to try!
