As the days go by and restaurants throughout Disney World continue to reopen, we’re still hoping for a return from one of our favorite dining spots in EPCOT!
Tokyo Dining has remained closed in World Showcase (aside from a limited few days in November), but with continued menu tweaks, we’re anxious that this MIGHT be a sign that a reopening is around the corner!
We’ve long been fans of Tokyo Dining, ESPECIALLY this time of year when warm miso soup really soothes the soul! So naturally, we’ve had a hankering!
Although it’s still temporarily closed, the restaurant continues to make edits by honing in on a few key items and streamlining the menu! A sign that they’re preparing to reopen and serve a limited menu for limited customers? Here’s hoping!
When we last peeked, Tokyo Dining had done away with its ramen entirely, along with Bento Boxes and kids’ meals! Well, they’re at it again, this time taking DESSERT off the menu!
Previously, we noticed they had added a Mango Mousse, Chocolate Tofu Mousse, and Matcha Tiramisu, ALL of which have seemingly been nixed! Guess we’ll just have to mosey around World Showcase to get our sweets fix!
With dessert off the menu (a painful phrase to type…), this leaves the restaurant to focus more on its fresh fish, which they’re CLEARLY prioritizing!
For both lunch and dinner appetizers, they’ve amped up the Salmon Poke Bowl ($16) by adding cubed tuna to the mix, while the Sashimi section features a NEW Seared Salmon option ($15), with thinly sliced and flamed fish served with Ponzu sauce, fried garlic chips, marinated green onions, and cucumbers!
Meanwhile, the popular Bluefin Tuna Sashimi has seen a price increase from $15 to $16!
For lunch and dinner Sushi Rolls, the kitchen is tinkering with new flavors and ingredients, like marinating tuna and salmon in soy sauce for the Spicy Crunchy Roll ($13), and finishing it with tempura crunch!
With the Volcano Roll ($18), it’s OUT with the scallops and shrimp and IN with the tuna, salmon, and smelt roe!
Then there’s the addition of another roll: the Shrimp Tempura Roll ($15)! This crunchy inside-out roll features eight pieces of shrimp, served with Kampyo, which is a dried Japanese gourd!
Oh and that Miso Soup we’ve been craving? It got a makeover on both the lunch and dinner menus, with the addition of green onion and bonito miso broth, along with tofu and wakame ($4)!
As sushi fans, we’re PSYCHED to see these changes! While we’re sad to see dessert go, that just means more room for salmon! Stay tuned for more menu news and a (hopeful) reopening from Tokyo Dining!
