From the Thanksgiving Turkey Cupcake (you’ve GOT to see him here) to the Holiday Wreath Cupcake and more, you can always find some serious seasonal snacking going on here. Today, though, we’re reviewing a cupcake that’s not here simply for a season: it’s the Moana Cupcake!
The Moana Cupcake takes a vanilla cupcake base and adds a coconut-flavored center.

It’s topped with buttercream, a sprinkling of shaved coconut, and the Heart of Te Fiti (created from a soft fondant).

Those glittering ocean waves make a nice touch, don’t they?

Topping it all is a white chocolate piece that provides the character inspiration for this treat. C’mon, you know you want to sing it with me, so let’s hear it… “I am MOANA!!!!”

So, how is Moana’s cupcake tribute? Quite delicious, as it turns out! Though the coconut flavor in the center is not very prominent, it’s still present with just a hint.

In essence, this is really more of a classic vanilla cupcake that’s enhanced with just a bit of that tropical flavor. While those expecting some serious coconut upon seeing the shavings on the top may crave more of that taste, this one’s likely a solid choice for all those little Moana fans who likely prefer a more simple flavor profile.

The Moana Cupcake is $5.99 at Captain Cook’s, and since it’s been around for a while now — and since it has such a fitting home at the Polynesian — we’re hoping to find it well into the New Year!
