This year, Disney announced that they would lay off 28,000 Cast Members.
Since then, the number has grown with the prolonged closure of Disneyland and with Disney entertainment furloughs. Because many Cast Members are affected by this, they’ve been getting creative to turn a darker time into a brighter and happier time. We’ve seen things from podcasts to small businesses, and now a theater is getting in on the action!
Mad Cow Theatre Company, located in Downtown Orlando, is getting ready to launch a new project that involves supporting furloughed and laid off Disney Cast Members! The series “Bringing Home the Herd: Cabarets, Comedies & Captivating Tales” will feature digital performances from local actors including affected Cast Members!
This series will last six-months where 12 shows will be performed virtually. How cool! All of the money this series makes on tickets and subscriptions will support those local artists in need. If you are missing theater in the Disney theme parks, this is a great way to get your theatrical fix AND support Cast Members!
On Mad Cow Theatre Company’s website, you can purchase subscription packages for the entire series or single tickets for each show. A 1-2 viewer subscription is $99, and a 3+ viewer subscription is $149. Single tickets will be $20. This is an amazing way to be entertained and give back to Cast Members! We’ll continue to keep you updated on how you can help affected Cast Members.
