Today we spent some time strolling around Disney’s Polynesian Resort, checking on construction updates, eating dole whip out of a pineapple, and trying one of our favorite desserts this resort has to offer!
Although ‘Ohana is still closed (we miss you, Stitch) we obviously had to find other solutions to make sure we could get our hands on the beloved dessert it offers — Bread Pudding! We found out an Ohana-inspired version of the treat had made its way to Tambu Lounge so we headed there to enjoy this warm slice of deliciousness!
Tambu Lounge reopened in August and has been serving up Hawaiian-style bites and tropical drinks since. We luckily discovered that you can also order a similar version of that bread pudding we’ve been missing from Tambu Lounge!
Although this dessert is typically served at ‘Ohana, we’re willing to take it wherever we can get it, even if it’s a bit different than the original! We’ve seen it pop up at Kona Cafe and today it showed up at Tambu Lounge, and you know we had to try it.
This is a warm, pineapple bread accompanied by a caramel sauce. You’ve gotta admit it sounds like a delicious tropical combo. Tambu Lounge makes their own version of the bread pudding so it’s different than your classic ‘Ohana dish.
The bread is really moist and so sweet! We think it’s really delicious and especially love to eat it when it’s warm.
Typically when you get the bread pudding at ‘Ohana, it’s served a la mode. That’s right, ice cream, too! We think it’s even BETTER with ice cream, so we were kind of missing that. But seriously, just look at the gooey-ness of the caramel sauce. This sauce is also different because there are no bananas in the sauce either. When we grabbed this at Kona Cafe, it was served ‘Ohana-style with the ice cream but no bananas. And Tambu Lounge does it in their own way!
We are serious die-hards for this bread pudding, and although we prefer ‘Ohana’s version, we are glad to see it in some form or another at Tambu Lounge! This dessert is available after 5PM and it costs $12.00. Check back with us for more updates about our Disney food favorites!
