Disney Cruise Line and many other cruise companies have delayed, suspended, or canceled sailings through the end of 2020 due to the global health crisis.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a “no sail order” in March that suspended sailings. The ban was extended then expired on October 31st, 2020. While there is no issued mandate, the CDC stated a warning that sailing is a level 4 “high-risk” and should be avoided. Disney canceled sailings through December 2020 and is once again extending cancelations.
Disney Cruise Line has made the decision to extend the suspension of departures through January 31st, 2021. Sailings are canceled onboard the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, and Disney Dream through February 1st and the Disney Fantasy through February 6th.
Guests booked on suspended or canceled sailings who have paid their reservation in full will be offered the choice of a cruise credit to be used for a future cruise vacation or a full refund. Guests who have not paid their reservations in full will automatically receive a refund.
You can see a full list of the affected sailings below.
Guests with pre-existing bookings can take advantage of the temporary cruise date flexibility policy and modify their reservation up to 15 days before their departure date without penalty. The “flexible dates” policy is applicable through March 31st, 2021. Guests can choose any sailing date prior to April 1st, 2022, but they cannot change a reservation back to the original date once they have booked a cruise.
Despite Disney’s choice to cancel departures, they are still pushing forward with the construction of three new cruise ships. The Disney Wish will debut in summer 2022 and two more ships will finish in 2024 and 2025.
