Although Disneyland hasn’t set an official opening date, California Governor Gavin Newsom has stated that there’s “no hurry” to decide the best time to reopen theme parks moving forward.

Despite the uncertainty, Disneyland has still been moving forward with precautions like health and safety signs, limited capacity measures, and more ahead of the parks’ reopening dates. Yet, the uncertainty of when the parks and resorts will be welcoming guests back has caused Disney to make difficult decisions regarding the layoffs of 28,000 Cast Members during this time.

Modified entertainment has started to be put in place in Disney World with Character Cavalcades and the re-opening of For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However, according to Disney Cast Members and sources from Orange County Register, two of Disneyland’s most popular pieces of entertainment will not be returning when the parks reopen again.

According to many Cast Members and the American Guild of Variety Artists West, end of run notices have been sent to actors in the Frozen: Live at the Hyperion at Disney California Adventure and Mickey and the Magical Map at Disneyland. Disney has not announced the closure publicly or clarified whether the closure is temporary.

AGVA West Disneyland representative Steve Rosen claimed that it’s possible both shows could return. He stated, “An end of run notice means ‘technically’ that the shows are permanently closed, but Disney has sent end of run notices in the past and then subsequently reopened the show.” As more details are announced about California theme parks and Disneyland’s reopening, we’ll keep you updated with everything you need to know.
