While the theme parks in Disney World are now open, both of Disney’s water parks — Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park — remain closed.
Now we’ve got an update from Disney in terms of when we’ll potentially be able to take a splash at those water parks again.
Today, Disney has officially announced that, pending government approvals, Disney plans to reopen ONE of the two Disney water parks on March 7, 2021.
Disney has noted that when it reopens its water parks, they will welcome guests and Cast Members back in “a responsible way, with a plan focused on health and well-being.” They also noted that more details on their phased reopening plan — including a decision on the specific water park that will be reopening first — will be shared at a later time.
Disney also noted that the reopening date may change and, if it does, they will provide a future update and let guests know what to expect.
So, what happens to those guests with existing tickets who are impacted by this change?
Platinum Plus and Premier Annual Passholders
Platinum Plus and Premier Annual Passholders will automatically receive a partial refund.
If you’re an Annual Passholder with water park access, you can get more details on how this refund is being calculated.

Water Park Annual Passholders
According to the Disney website, if you have a Water Parks Annual Pass or Water Parks After 2 Annual Pass, your pass will be “automatically extended for the period in which both water parks were closed.” Alternatively, you can call (407) 939-2732 to cancel your pass.
Water Park Tickets
If you have a water park ticket, Disney will be automatically extending unused, unexpired 1-Day Disney Water Park tickets through December 31, 2021. Alternatively, if you’d like to simply cancel your ticket, you can call (407) 939-2732.
If you are unable to visit one of the water parks and utilize your ticket by December 31, 2021, the Disney website notes that you may “apply the value of a wholly unused ticket toward the purchase of a ticket for a future date.”
Ticket Add-Ons
For those guests that have a ticket with the Park Hopper Plus Option or Water Park & Sports Option, Disney is offering a few options including ticket modification, ticket cancellation, and ticket usage. You can see more details below:
For now, guests can purchase a new ticket with the Park Hopper Plus Option or Water Park & Sports Option for admission March 7th and later. Disney has stated that they will resume sales of Water Parks Annual Passes and 1-Day Water Park Tickets at a later date.
We’ll be on the lookout for more updates related to Disney’s water parks and let you know what we find.
