NEWS: Tropical Storm Isaias is Forecast to Make Its Way Up the Florida East Coast Today

Now downgraded from a hurricane, Tropical Storm Isaias is drawing close to the Florida east coast.

On Saturday, a pre-landfall state of emergency was declared for the state of Florida. While Isaias has been downgraded to a tropical storm, it is still sustaining winds of 65 miles per hour as it approaches the Florida coast.

As of the last update from the National Hurricane Center at 8AM, Tropical Storm Isaias was located 40 miles east-southeast of West Palm Beach and 155 miles south-southeast of Cape Canaveral. The storm is traveling northwest at 8 miles per hour and is expected to make its way up the east coast of Florida today.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the bands of the storm that make it inland to Orlando today are expected to reach wind speeds of 25-30 miles per hour during the day and could increase as the storm gets closer on Sunday night.

Orlando is also expected to receive two to four inches of rain on Sunday and officials have warned residents not to be cavalier, as the tropical-storm-force winds still present a serious danger.
