There may be some stormy weather on the horizon for Disney World.
June 1st marked the official start of the 2020 hurricane season — one that analysts are saying will be overactive. Now, a storm system is headed in the direction of Florida, and there’s a significant chance that it will reach tropical storm strength by the time it blows through the tropics.
According to WESH, Tropical Cyclone Nine is currently moving towards the islands and there is a 90% chance that the storm will reach tropical storm status. If it does, it will be named Tropical Storm Isaias. Note that Isaias would be the earliest recorded storm to begin with an “I;” the season has already been a record-setting one when it comes to activity.
Meteorologists have noted that unorganized storms such as this one are hard to predict, but the current forecast cone shows the cyclone running along the Western coast of Florida. Keep in mind, the final day forecast has an error radius of 192 miles, so it’s possible the storm could hit central Florida or could have a path much further to the left.
We’re not yet sure the level of impact that potential Tropical Storm Isaias will have on Florida, but it’s a good idea to be prepared if you’re in Disney World this weekend or early next week. Disney has not yet issued a response to the storm, but we’ll be keeping a close eye out for when they do and on the storm system itself. Stay tuned.
