Earlier this week, it was announced that Shanghai Disneyland will reopen on May 11th, and just yesterday Walt Disney World announced that Disney Springs will begin a phased reopening of the shopping and dining district on May 20th. However, aside from Shanghai Disneyland, all other Disney Parks remain closed until further notice due to the current global situation.
And an update on the Tokyo Disney Resort website reveals the closure of Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea remains extended. While no official reopening date had been proposed, the website previously stated that a reopening date announcement would be determined in mid-May.
However, in light of the fact that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe recently extended the state of emergency order he issued for Japan back in March through May 31st, the website now states that “the decision on the reopening date will be made and announced once the requests from Government and local municipalities have been lifted.”
You’ll also note in the screenshot above that “the opening date for the Tokyo Disneyland major expansion area will also be determined once the situation can be gauged after reopening both parks.”
Additional changes to the site provide updated information to ticket holders. Ticket changes will now be accepted “without a fee, or charge resulting from price difference”, to a ticket (Revisit Passport) valid for admission until March 31, 2021 for guests with fixed date tickets with a Park admission date from February 29 to June 30, 2020, or who hold tickets with an expiration date within that same period. Impacted guests can find full information on the Tokyo Disneyland website.
