Tokyo Disneyland has announced another extension to its temporary closure as a measure to continue to promote safety in light of the current global situation.
Originally, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea began a temporary closure at the end of February, which was scheduled to last through March 15th. You may recall that an extension to the original closure was announced on March 11th, set to last through early April. And now, Tokyo Disneyland has announced an another extension for the closure.
The Tokyo Disney Resort website now notifies that the “reopening of the parks is planned for April 20 or beyond,” and a new announcement will be sent out regarding the reopening. [EDITOR’S UPDATE: Please note that, as of April 8th, it has been announced that a new reopening date will be determined in mid-May, and you can read about that here.]
The website still states that the grand opening of “New Fantasyland” has been postponed to “mid-May or beyond.”
Tokyo Disney Hotels
Throughout the closure thus far, the four Tokyo Disney Hotels (Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, Disney Ambassador Hotel, Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta, and Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel) have remained open, operating with changes in light of the park closures.
However, the Tokyo Disney Resort website has announced that, as of April 1, 2020, the hotels will join in the temporary closure, with a reopening also planned for April 20 or beyond.
Guests will want to visit the Tokyo Disney Resort website to learn more about cancellation procedures for reservations from April 1 through April 19th. Guidelines are also listed for reservations from April 20 to May 31, 2020. Please note that the website states: “No cancellation fee will be charged for reservations with check-in dates up to May 31, 2020.”
Ikspiari will also be closed; however, the website states that the Disney Resort Line “will operate regularly.”
