Artichoke lovers rejoice because I “Heart” Artichokes has returned to the 2020 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival!
Get ready for some savory bites and all new beverages as you come along with us for a full review of this booth!
Food
First up, we check out a snack featured here last year: Fried Artichokes with Lemon Aïoli. This vegetarian offering will set you back a cool $7! They have removed the Blue Diamond Almonds this year.
Maybe it was just a bum batch, but our Fried Artichokes we were kinda bland. 🙁 Texturally, they were a little overdone for our liking. If you really do heart artichokes though (like the name of the booth says!) you might still enjoy this little dish!
The booth also offers another returning vegetarian option– Artichoke Toast with Artichoke Cream Cheese (an addition to the dish this year) and Olive & Artichoke Tapenade for $6.50.
This dish was really tasty, especially if you’re an olive lover — if not, this one might be a hard pass since it is very tapenade-y! The spread itself was our favorite part while the crostini was nicely toasted but still soft in the middle! We’re talkin’ total yum factor!
Beverages
To wash down the fried artichokes or toast, you can grab a Spanish Lolea Red Sangria for $11.00. This is the only Sangria option at the festival this year! So if you’re looking for something sweet, you’re going to want to sip on this drink!
Or, for a lower alcohol option, you can try out Brooklyn Brewery’s Special Effects Non-Alcoholic Lager (Alcohol regulations apply) for $10.00. Since there is only .5& ABV on this drink, there is just a slight hoppiness to it. If you’re looking for a more mild drink with a slight kick of citrus, this is a good options for guests who want something with a lower alcohol content!
We still “heart” artichokes and were happy to see two menu items return from last year! Make sure you, too, “heart” artichokes if you’re looking to try out these snacks because no amount of bread or frying will hide that you are eating artichokes!
