The theme comes through in the heart shape of the individual mini whoopie pies, along with a little “XOXO” love note written in icing on the top of each.

But even though the shape has a little spin beyond the traditional round whoopie pie, the flavor and texture profile here is completely classic: dense red velvet cake surrounds a tasty layer of rich cream cheese frosting.
