Disney World’s Riviera Resort is slated to open THIS YEAR and we can hardly wait! The new Disney Vacation Club resort is expected to open December 16 and will offer views of the Epcot and Hollywood Studios’ nighttime shows, Disney Skyliner access, AND a highly-anticipated new restaurant (with a character meal!), Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera.
Today, we got another sneak peek at the European-inspired resort!
Disney’s Riviera Resort is inspired by Walt and Lillian Disney’s travels to the Mediterranean coast. The resort’s architecture and design will blend French and Italian styles for a modern, yet classic European look. Sounds like the perfect vacation from your vacation!
According to Disney, the resort’s “articulated stone base and smooth stucco façades will be accented with decorative metalwork and colorful awnings. French mansard roofs and Italian style arches and loggias will intermingle with other architectural styles found along the coastal region.”
The center building will be the focal point of the resort, while the additional wings are supposed to act as layers of architectural history, according to Disney. The buildings will vary in height from eight to 10 stories, so if you’re planning to dine at Topolino’s Terrace, you’ll have wonderful views of the whole resort!
Features such as “porticos, towers and terraces” and a “coastal-inspired color palette” will allow each building to have a unique exterior style, reminiscent of the varying architectural styles of the 20th century. Window styles will also vary throughout the resort, and you just might see motifs of Mickey and Minnie Mouse!
Disney’s Riviera Resort and Topolino’s Terrace are currently available for bookings beginning December 16. We can’t wait to see you at the Riviera later this year!
