Chocolate-covered strawberries
are a beloved treat found often at Walt Disney World’s dessert parties and in Park confectionery cases. But Kona Island at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has taken chocolate-covered strawberries to a whole. new. level. with TWELVE distinct varieties!
Up first: M&M-covered berries! These colorful treats pair the Mini M&M with what looks to be milk chocolate for a version that’s bound to grab the attention of every kid who passes by. And next to the M&Ms, a tiny Chocolate Pearl variety that wouldn’t stray too far from the classic flavor combination but would surely offer a new texture experience.
Next in the case: the berry gets Mickey-fied with sugar sprinkles in the classic Mickey shape!
Toasted coconut offers a little taste of the island with your chocolate-covered berry. We imagine this one has a great, nutty flavor to go along with the sweet chocolate and berry.
This next berry is labeled Milk Chocolate, so we think these balls must be colored chocolate pearls… but whether they’re milk chocolate or white is up in the air.
No question about this variety, though: it’s chocolate sprinkles all the way! If you get a kick out of the texture of sprinkles, this one’s for you!
In a second, adjacent case: more strawberries! Marshmallows and Oreo Cookies offer two kid-friendly options. Roasted almonds add a simple, nutty texture to a third.
The caramelized nuts are super crunchy — like sugary nut clusters but on a chocolate-covered strawberry — and drizzled with more chocolate!
For the July 4th holiday: red, white, and blue sugar star sprinkles! This is a fun option, but we suspect it’ll be traded out for another offering in the near future.
And finally: if you love white chocolate, there’s one white chocolate-covered berry in the case, and it’s coated in colorful, metallic sprinkles. So white chocolate… but make it rainbow. 😉
It’s not unusual to see chocolate-covered strawberries get a garnish or decoration here and there, but Kona Island has definitely out-berried itself! Each of these berries is $4 — just about the going rate of plain chocolate-dipped berries in the Parks — so while they do seem a bit pricey for a berry, in this case you’re getting a little extra bang for your berry buck!
