There’s nothing that hits the spot quite like a cold treat on a hot summer day. And now that summer is in full force in Florida, there’s no better time to grab one. And in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, there’s actually no better time to grab FIVE.
Because five new Waffle Wafer Toppers are topping ice cream and soft serve snacks all around the park, and they feature none other than Mickey and Pals! Five different locations are serving treats with five different Waffle Wafer Toppers.
At Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, you’ll find MICKEY himself topping your choice (Mint Chocolate Chip, for me!) of a single scoop of ice cream in a cup. (“Gee, that’s swell!”)
The Mickey Waffle Wafer Topped Scoop is $5.99 (or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit) at the Parlor.
However, you’ll find the Waffle Wafer Toppers reflected on the menu a little differently depending on where you go. For instance, in Fantasyland’s Storybook Treats, the Minnie Waffle Wafer Topper is listed on the menu as being $1.00 priced on its own, to add to any treat of your choice.
Two options are available in Adventureland thanks to the land’s two classic soft-serve signatures. At Sunshine Tree Terrace, home of the Citrus Swirl, you can get a Donald Waffle Wafer Topper on your choice of soft serve in a cup.
It was Citrus Swirl for me, but your other choices are Orange Dole Whip, Vanilla, Chocolate, or twists.
Let’s take a closer look at the Birthday Duck, why don’t we? (Did you know that June 9, 1934 was the date that Donald made his debut? 85 never looked better!)
Then over at Aloha Isle, Donald’s best gal Daisy tops your cup of Pineapple Dole Whip (or Swirl with Vanilla). In fact, because these treats were new today, you won’t even see the Waffle Topper mentioned on the Aloha Isle menu yet.
BUT, that’s where we learned that you can actually purchase just the Waffle Wafer Topper on its own, when we were asked if we wanted “just the cookie.”
So, that’s what we did for the price of $1.00 (plus tax, bringing it to $1.07). Now, as you can tell, it is a cute treat. It’s also a sweet bite for the buck, with a nice, crispy texture and that classic mildly sweet cone flavor.
But, these toppers are quite thin and not a substantial snack on their own for an adult or older kid. Your very little one, though? This could be a picture perfect Disney snack for them for just a buck!
Finally, you can blast off to Tomorrowland where Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies is serving the — GAWRSH! — Goofy Waffle Wafer Topper to add to any treat on the menu.
The Waffle Wafer Toppers basically give you a chance to enjoy the classic crunch and flavor of a yummy waffle cone with your cool and creamy treat in a deconstructed fashion. So you can enjoy a cone with your ice cream while still having a cup to catch all that quick-melting goodness in these hot months.
So the only thing you need to strategize is whether you will base your snacking decisions by choosing your favorite treat…
… OR your favorite character!
Which one will it be 🙂 ?
