Review: A Valentine's Day EXCLUSIVE Funnel Cake at Disneyland's Hungry Bear!

If you find yourself with a hankerin’ for vittles in Disneyland’s Critter Country, head on over to Hungry Bear Restaurant! This counter service spot serves up tasty sandwiches, satisfying sides, and — right now — a special Valentine’s Day treat!

Our Disneyland correspondent Heather (howdy, @DiningInDisney!) stopped in to try a couple of sandwiches and a Valentine’s funnel cake!

The Honey Spiced Chicken Sandwich lives up to its name with a truly crispy, crunchy (albeit slightly dried out) piece of chicken served on a soft golden bun with sweet and spicy spread, lettuce, and fries on the side!

The sweet and spicy sauce is the real differentiating factor here. It’s definitely got a little spice. It’s a great partner with the chicken.

Messy Melvin’s Vegan Specialty Burger is served on a golden brown ciabatta roll that’s almost able to handle the fillings. On our last visit to try this, the bun was distractingly stale. This time it was slightly better but still… it’s hard to pick up a vegan burger to eat it. They’re typically softer and thus squeeze out the side easily. That’s the case here.

But the stewed vegetables on top are delicious. The vegan patty is flavorful, too, making this sandwich a must for vegans and vegetarians and something anyone should consider trying! If only the bun was better!

Heather opted to get an order of Onion Rings, too! If you’re getting hungry just looking at these, you’re not the only one! Crunchy, onion-y, and huge! These are one of our favorite Disneyland go-to snacks.

Hungry Bear also has a Valentine’s Day treat that’s under the umbrella of the Get Your Ears On celebration that’s taken over Disneyland Resort! It’s a Honey-to-Love Funnel Cake.

This is a honey and cream funnel cake topped with whipped cream, edible flowers, and cinnamon sprinkles — which are actually pulverized Red Hots! Spicy, baby!

Heather enjoyed this way more than she expected to, and we can see why! The spicy cinnamon dust combined with the creamy honey drizzle is a great combination of contrasts!

Hungry Bear is such a sleeper hit in the realm of Disneyland quick service, and we love stopping in to see what’s on the menu. And they’re always getting into the seasonal and celebratory treats, too, which makes eating here a fun experience every time!
