As I was taking in the sights, sounds, and tastes of the Epcot Festival of the Holidays, I took a little detour into Epcot’s Germany Pavilion.
I was passing through the Weinkeller when something caught my eye: a small grouping of Glühwein Chocolate Bars by Schwermer.

It’s that time! We’re sharing another fun look at Disney food with our latest DFB Video, and today we’re talking about the Best Disney World Restaurants for the Whole Family!
Sure, there are times when you want a grown up experience, or something a little more well, um, quiet. But if you’re in the World with grandma, grandpa, and the kids, these are the perfect spots to entertain everyone. [Read more…]
If one snack has become associated indelibly with Disney Parks on both the east and west coasts, it’s the Mickey Pretzel. I mean, it’s Mickey-shaped, it’s portable, it’s pretzel. (And now it comes with cheese sauce just about everywhere — so yum!)
But let’s be real: If you want an authentic pretzel experience, where the texture, color, and flavor combine for pretzel perfection, you gotta head over to the Germany Pavilion in World Showcase.

What? You’ve recovered from the DFB Grilled Cheese Crawl, and you’re ready for another one? We are right there with ya!
So today, we’re heading to the Mecca of Diverse Disney food options, Epcot!
There are literally hundreds of delicious dishes and tempting snacks to be savored throughout the park. And that makes sense, since World Showcase immerses you into the cultures of eleven different countries.
In one day, you can enjoy pastries from France, sushi from Japan, a jumbo pretzel from Germany, schoolbread from Norway — and so much more!
But then, there’s Future World, too. Home to great little kiosks featuring flavored popcorns as well as one of our favorite counter service spots, Sunshine Seasons, there’s plenty to enjoy there as well.
We all have our favorites, but it’s also fun to check out the NEW stuff! And so today, that’s what we’re doing. Let’s head into Epcot and arrange the day around trying brand new (or in some cases, returning items) in our DFB “Just the New Stuff” Crawl, Epcot Edition!
And if you love this crawl, be sure to check out our DFB Guide + Snacks Bundle, which you can enjoy for an unbelievable 30% off the already discounted price with code BUNDLE17 at DFBStore.com!
I hope you came hungry. Let’s go!
To kick our day off right, we should start with a good breakfast. Sure, you could grab a bowl of cereal at the resort or head to Starbucks for a muffin, but I say let’s check out Sunshine Seasons in The Land Pavilion for their Cinnamon French Toast Bread Pudding.
Is it breakfast, or is it dessert? Who cares? Because this is vacation, and you NEED to have this rich, delicious dish to jump start your day. (Oh, and to answer the question, clearly, this is breakfast. I mean, who eats bacon with dessert? 😉 ) [Read more…]

Here is a bit of wine news for all you Vino fans out there… and you don’t have to wait until the Epcot Food and Wine Festival for it!
We have a couple of updates to report regarding Epcot’s World Showcase Wine Walk. For those unfamiliar with this lesser-known Epcot experience, here is a brief rundown (read about the experience in full here). Interested guests can head to any one of three spots to start their Wine Walk: the Germany Pavilion’s Weinkeller, Italy’s La Bottega Italia, and France’s Aux Vins de France. [Read more…]
We found something really cool at Epcot that you may need to have! You might normally pass by this beer stein, but if you take a second look, you’ll notice the top is pretty amazing… .

OK, I LOVE THIS!!!! It’s been on my list to get over here for-EVER and review this little gem for you guys, so let’s get to it!
(::Leans in conspiratorially to whisper…::) Tell me… have you ever spent much time at the Weinkeller in Epcot’s Germany Pavilion?
Well, git on over there. Cause it’s got some stuffs.
Tucked in next door to Die Weihnachts Ecke Christmas shop (it’s also a neighbor to Biergarten Restaurant), if you walk through the Weinkeller too quickly, you may think it only sells bottles of wine along with some odds and ends like German cookbooks, chocolates, and a few other souvenirs. We are taking another lap around World Showcase today and stopping into Karamell-Küche for a couple of treats!
Who can resist all of that buttery caramel? Super not me.
It’s true. We rarely make it all the way Around the World without stopping for a sweet treat here. Stepping inside is like finally realizing your best candy store dream ever. You don’t have candy store dreams, you say? Well you will after you’ve been here. There are so many outrageously good things to try, and we always finds something new!
Recently, I told you about two other treats we tried here — the Caramel Bacon Square and Caramel S’more.
Today, we’re back with two oldies but goodies to share!
The first treat I want to show you is the Caramel Brownie. I was excited to finally try this one. I have no idea why I hadn’t indulged before. It’s drizzled heavily with that golden Werther’s Caramel, and that turned out to be the best part.
The brownie itself was more cakey than fudgy, and it really didn’t have the moistness I was looking for. It was a little dry and crumbly in fact. This alone kind of ruined the treat for me, but that may have just been a bad batch.
Look a little more closely, and you can see that, in addition to the drizzle, there’s caramel baked right into the top of the brownie! It’s like a double shot of golden, buttery sugar.
If you like chocolate and caramel in more of a cake-like form, grab a glass of milk. This one’s for you.
But I also had to try something for the candy lovers out there! And this time out, I chose the Caramel Toffee. The marbleized detail on the top of the square really made it stand out from the [Read more…]

It’s always a good day when we get to try ANYTHING at Karamell-Küche… and, we’ve got some awesome new-to-us treats for you today!
I stopped by the Germany Pavilion recently with the sole intention of grabbing a Chewy Caramel Shortbread Bar, but simply had to take a peek first into that bakery case chock full of golden caramel goodness. And…we found new stuffs!!
So, what’s new at the Caramel Kitchen, you ask?
Among the items that have arrived since my most recent visit were Vanilla and Chocolate Cakeballs, Caramel Gingersnaps, Caramel Bacon Squares (what WHAT?), and Caramel S’mores.
Umm… did somebody say “BACON”? Clearly, I altered my order right away to grab a Caramel Bacon Square ;). I asked for a Caramel S’more, too, while I was at it!
Sweet stuff with a touch of good ol’ bacon isn’t a mixture that’s unique to Karamell-Küche. You can find it in things like Everything Pop’s King Cupcake and Peanut Butter, Banana, and Candied Bacon Pie at BoardWalk Bakery.
What’s the Karamell-Küche take on this combo? From the outside, the Caramel Bacon Square looks a lot like the other chocolate-covered caramels in the case, only with [Read more…]
