Disney just made two SURPRISING announcements!

The Walt Disney Company recently held its third-quarter earnings call for fiscal year 2023 and released an earnings report as well. CEO Bob Iger talked about the Hollywood writer and actor strikes, the new ESPN betting service, and a new Disney+/Hulu Duo Bundle, among several other topics. Actors and writers are currently on strike in Hollywood, with the writers’ strike starting in May and the actors’ strike starting on June 13th. As a result, several film projects have been put on hold.

Disney CEO Bob Iger previously commented about the possibility of an actors’ strike (before the strike was officially called), and he received backlash for his comments, which some deemed to be “out of touch” and “tone-deaf.” As the criticism began to spread, many Disney fans wondered if Iger would change his tune about the strikes. Bob Iger Announces Immediate Restructuring of Walt Disney Company

Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger announced a restructuring of the company during his first earnings call back at the helm of the business he first retired from in 2021.

Iger famously returned on Nov. 20, 2022, to replace fired CEO Bob Chapek. He touted the reorganization as a way to return creativity to the center of the company. “Our company is fueled by storytelling and creativity,” he said. “Virtually every dollar we earn … emanates from something we created.”
