Now that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is reopening on April 8th, we need to tackle the elephant in the room – we like the ride’s new character just as much as Buzz himself!
Tomorrowland has a funny way of making the future look a little…retro.
One minute, you’re battling Emperor Zurg like the galaxy depends on it. Next, you’re wrestling with a ride vehicle blaster that feels like it survived the Y2K scare, three presidential administrations, and at least one serious battery issue.

And that is exactly why Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is getting a long refurbishment in Magic Kingdom.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been closed for refurbishment for a while (and we’ve even had a sneak peek at the new ride vehicles and blasters coming to the attraction when it’s finished), but now there’s a visible sign of progress inside Magic Kingdom. Construction walls have gone up around the ride, giving us a better sense that the end of the work could be completed sooner than we expected!
Magic Kingdom has a lot going on right now. Big Thunder Mountain is still undergoing refurbishment, and the park’s expansion is well underway.
